Also do the "top of the forest" a steel structure that gives you a bird's eye view. Use comfortable shoes as the trail can get very steep and in some area's very slippery. Orchid hunting. Well maintained, tidy facility with easy access for most. Staff very friendly and helpful. We went as a group mainly to look at orchids and some into birds. Beautiful place with a lot of trees, being in Dlinza forest will make you feel so small in a good way, you feel so indulged just by being surrounded by nature and all you hear is the sound of chirping birds in their natural habitat.

One instantly gets a sense of the immense history of both the town as well as the hotel as soon as you enter the reception area. A number of historical photos and memoriabila are found throughout. The rooms are not extravagent, but comfortable. The team are friendly are always willing to help. The on site restaurant serves enjoyable pub meals. A number of trips in and around Eshowe can be booked through the hotel.

My family had an OK stay at the George, but would not recommend the hotel unless you are part of a large group. This is a beautiful hotel with a neat history, and the decor throughout the hotel shows that history really well.
Great photos and a fantastic library. However, they are not quite ready for guests. We arrived in the early evening, expecting we could eat in the restaurant that was described on the website. But the restaurant was closed and would only open when there were large groups coming through to visit.

The only other restaurants in town are fast food or poor quality dives, so we were disappointed. Had we known there was no restaurant open, we would have eaten before arriving. The next morning, they opened for breakfast later than we were told , but then told us the menu on the tables was not for us, only for a group coming the next day! We were glad when the group finally came because the food turned out to be great when they were willing to serve it to us! Room was large and nicely furnished. But we didn't sleep very well because it was very cold no heating and because noise from traffic outside came right through the thin windows.
The George is a neat hotel, and they were working hard to restore it while we were there. Perhaps when high tourist season comes, they will be ready for guests. Date of stay: October Value. The staff were not able to deal with a small group at dinner nor breakfast and the porters wanted to enter the guests rooms at breakfast in their absence to collect the bags which had been arranged with reception for after breakfast.

This was a venue for my granddaughters wedding and we stayed overnight. Venue lovely, staff very helpful and efficient, accommodation clean and comfortable.
