It is a perfect breakaway, where you can unwind and relax next to the pool while watching game drinking from the waterhole, or go on a hike enjoying the peaceful surroundings, the clean air, blue skies and San rock art. An old ruin dating back to the time of the Anglo Boer War, to , can be found on the farm and it is perfect for taking photos.
Night time is best where you can enjoy a braai or relax around a bush fire, listening to the sound of a jackal calling. Birdlife and wildlife such as eland, gemsbuck, hartebeest, kudu, blesbuck, springbuck, ostrich, waterbuck and zebra roam the farm. We offer spacious, luxury en-suite bedrooms with sliding doors opening onto the pool area. Air-conditioning, DSTV, a bar fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, a lock-up safe and a hairdryer are all available.
The honeymoon suite has an en-suite spa bathroom.

This guesthouse looks okay from the outside but the rooms and places need a revamp. I don't think the 3 star rating in reception is correct. The aircon doesn't work correctly. The shower door doesn't close when you shower. Microwave in the room is standing on the fridge and has to be moved closer to a plug before you can use it. Room door is glass and someone outside can see in.
Lack of security in the place. Gate stands open. Not enough outside lights on at night. Floor in room and bathroom are not very clean. You get a tea and coffee station in the room with only two tea bags. No sugar, coffee or milk in the room. Wi-Fi are only available in reception and restaurants. You don't have Wi-Fi in the rooms.
The only positive is the place has stunning Staff. Very friendly and helpful. I feel sorry for them. They are a young team that deserves a better place to work in.

We slept over on our way from Johannesburg to St. Helena Bay. I was unfortunately not impressed with the reception and was badly disappointed with the room.
My husband and I were traveling together and I booked a double room. We were assigned Chalet number 2 which had 3 single beds. Everything was rather outdated and mismatched and it did not feel as if the unit was cleaned before our arrival. It was probably cleaned when previous tenants had left There were no towels and when we requested towels, we received a hand towel and a regular towel. Our unit was very near the main road and we could hear every truck stop and speed up as we were just across from the main Stop in town. We were happy to be on our way the next morning.

Extended our stay. For our last night on our latest South African adventure we were looking for a comfortable and relaxing rural self-catering option with wi-fi that was within reasonable driving distance of Johannesburg O R Tambo airport. Almar ticked all the boxes. Our last night was on Tuesday.
We had booked Sunday night at Almar, and drove there from Upington. After a pleasant night we decided to extend for 2 more nights and drive directly to JNB airport rather than move on again. Owners Louann and Michelle were friendly and helpful when assistance was requested.
We had chalet B, one half of a semi-detached brick building looking out on the biggest expanse of gravel courtyard I've ever seen. More green landscaping needed please! The chalet sleeps 6, so there was plenty of space for just ….

Such a good surpise! We went in this place because it was on our way back to Joburg. The self cattering accommodation is a very high value for money. Beds are perfect, it is very clean, the team is friendly, wellcoming, discreat I could whrite 2 pages like that in french I've read somewhere that the track from the door to the lodge was "terrible" whiche is ….
