Our intention is to create a unique and comfortable space where our guests will feel at home, as well as being surrounded by beauty and colour. The apartment is decorated with many original South African artworks, authentic Masai cloths, Basuto blankets, woven Malawian chairs and Ikats which provide an eclectic and sympathetic space in which our guests are able to unwind and relax. Knysna is based in one of the most beautiful areas of South Africa and we are the perfect central base from which to explore the Garden Route and all its attractions.
Carpe Diem House is ideal for a long stay as well as for a stopover on your way to the other delights South Africa can offer. The character-filled one-bedroom apartment has a large private lounge and a separate additional toilet room with washbasin and large built-in cupboards. The lounge has wooden floors and high ceilings with a roof fan.

It is a lovely room for entertaining or relaxing. There is a double sleeper couch in the lounge offering a bed for up to two additional persons. The bedroom has a large Queen sized bed, with Sealy mattress, and en-suite bathroom shower only with toilet and washbasin. The bedroom also has a built-in cupboard and a roof-mounted fan.
The apartment has excellent security and an enclosed veranda overlooking a small, indigenous, bird filled garden. A Weber barbecue is available for making charcoal-fired meals which can be enjoyed on the original South African "stoep" veranda. Summers are warm and winters mild to chilly. Knysna has one of the richest rainfall percentages in South Africa with the wettest time of year being between June and August. Knysna stays green in all seasons, and its temperate climate makes it a tourist destination all year round. The town is a popular destination for both tourists and senior citizens entering retirement, especially among the British and former expatriates due to the year-round warm climate.
Recently, the town has also become a preferred destination among golfers, as the town boasts several world class golf courses , including Pezula Golf Course, Simola Golf Course and the well established Knysna Golf Course situated on the lagoon.
